On this most holy night, we celebrate our transformation from darkness into light by the Resurrection of Christ, starting with a fire, the lighting of the Paschal (Easter) Candle, and procession into the church. We continue in candlelight, with readings from the story of God’s creation and salvation of the people, hymns, prayers and a reflection. We renew our Baptismal vows, bless water and sprinkle the people as a reminder of our salvation through our own Baptism. Finally, we’ll proclaim “Christ is Risen”, ring bells, turn on the lights, listen to an organ fanfare, sing and once again celebrate the Eucharistic feast of Thanksgiving. It’s a deep, rich, moving church service, possibly like nothing you’ve ever experienced. Bring bells to ring!
