About Our Event
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week – the most sacred week of the Christian year. The liturgy, beginning with the blessing of palms and a parade of sorts, connects us in body, mind, and spirit to Jesus’s joyful and triumphant entrance into Jerusalem. We celebrate Eucharist mindful of it being the last Passover supper Jesus shared with his beloved disciples before being betrayed and arrested.
After the post-communion prayer, the service shifts drastically to a dramatization of the Passion of Jesus Christ. Multiple voices, including our own cries of “Crucify him!”, remind us of the somber journey Jesus took to the cross. Once concluded, all depart in silence. Our observance of Holy Week has begun.
