Sharing bread and serving one another

“Maundy” is short for mandatum, - Latin for “commandment,” as in Jesus’ new commandment to us. He demonstrated his love for us by washing his disciples’ feet and sharing a meal with them; he commanded us to love one another by serving each other and sharing meals together. We celebrate The Eucharist (feast of thanksgiving) at 6:30 with the ritual of washing one another’s hands - a modern interpretation of the service. At the end, we will strip the church of its decorations in memory of Jesus’ arrest, betrayal and death.
